Mark Robles is originally from the island of Calbayog Samar, Philippines. He has been able to establish himself as a well-rounded dancer by studying from a young age, away from his family, in the capital city of Manila. He gained his foundations and expertise in ballet, modern, contemporary and folk dances.
He’s a graduate of Philippine High School for the Arts, and a degree holder in Dance under the prestigious College of Music, University of the Philippines, Diliman. He’s also a proud alumnus of University of the Philippines Dance Company under the mentorship of Mr. Herbert Alvarez, Ms. Elena Laniog-Alvarez, Ms. Angela Lawenko-Baguilat, and Professor Emeritus Steve Villaruz.
He has been involved in various teaching jobs, recitals, music & dance festivals, competitions, and full-blown showcases in his home country and also in other Asian countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, China and Singapore. These undertakings were praised by his colleagues and he acquired certain awards and recognition from doing his craft.
He joined Frontier Danceland as a project artist in Milieu 2018 and performed choreographies by Deborah Nightingale and Sascia Pellegrini in collaboration with Artistic Director Low Mei Yoke. He debuted as a full-time artist with the company in Sides 2019 and performed choreographies by Shahar Binyamini and Edouard Hue.
Dancing transforms him not just to be a dancer but to be a better individual. He uses it as a medium to express what words cannot and helped him develop self-discipline, patience, understanding, & the totality of a person he is today.
